Betta Fish ORIGINAL pencil sketch
5”x7” graphite on paper
Certificate of Authenticity included
Over the years we’ve kept quite a few betta fish in our home. In my early years of working toward being a full-time artist, I worked at an aquarium store that sold them. One morning I arrived and began strolling the shop, making sure all lights were working and no “floaters” needed to be removed. On the floor was a betta. It had jumped from its container and was dry, so it had probably been there for a while. I picked it up and placed it in the pail with the other “expired” fish and moments later, after it hydrated, it proved to still be alive. I placed it back into its container and it completely recovered. It’s a memory I think I’ll always have.
